Comments - Love finding this site, but I really got a kick out of the In Loving Memory page choice of Music.
That version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Brother Israel "Iz" & Kamakawiwo`ole is a cousin on my Mother's side of the family.
I found it very touching that both sides of my family came together so unknowingly.
I would love to learn more about my genealogy of the Lisey side of the family, as I do not know many of them.

Much Mahalo and have a glorious Day!

Comments - I have not taken the time to read everything on your site, but I was thrilled.  My grandmother was Audra Irene Livesay.  Her father was
John Witt Livesay.  They lived in Arkansas.  I believe my Livesay ancestors came from Fenciscowles in Blackburn.  I am not sure of the spellings, but
I am trying to learn my grandmother's story.  I marked your site in my favorites.
It is so nice seeing your site.

Comments = I'm interested in finding the parents of Jesse Livesay. He was possibly born in Arkansas 1880 or 1881(headstone says 1881). If Ancestry
is correct his parents were Peter and Sarah Livesay. I'm really trying to find a positive link to his parents and extend my research out from there.
Thank you for your time and wonderful resources.

William Thomas Livesay - born in Tenn. of Milam and Margaret Johnson Livesay.
The website is really nice - a lot of work to put it all together - have been learning a lot on the Facebook page, but this is detailed as to the various
branches - looking forward to going to the reunion this year and hopefully seeing lots of my first cousins - and of course Tam!

Comments - Livesay  and Rowland Ireland
I am researching William Rowland who was bound as an apprentice to Richard Livesay, one of the Attornies of the Courts of Kings Bench Common
Pleas and Exchequer, Dublin, in 1814. William Rowland lived in Co Mayo, Ireland which is quite distant from Dublin. He had been sent to
Stoneyhurst College (Jesuit) Blackburn, Lancashire, in 1809. It does seem rather a coincidence that he should have been sent to a school in England in
a location where the Livesay connection seems to have very well established. There are various Livesay lawyers recorded at Dublin addresses over
the period 1814 to 1844. I am not sure if this has any significance for my researches but it may be of interest to you to know of the Dublin Livesay
connection.

Regards
Edward Rowland

had 2 children together. George Livesay and Shirley Livesay.
I'm wondering if you could help me find where and what we come from in the Livesay Genealogy.
My mother Shirley Livesay Summey passed when I was 4 and her family wasn't in contact after that. So I don't know alot.

I am trying to trace my Livesay family tree from Sarah Amanda Jane Livesay, her parents are Margaret Johnson (1832-1894, and Thomas J Livesay
(1802-1845).
I need documentation to apply for Daughters of the American Revolution.  Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Phyllis Surmiller
I am also on Ancestry and have my family tree posted online.

Comments -  I was born in Rogersville, Tennessee.  I attended the Livesay Family Reunion in Rogersville in July, 2013 or 2014.
I am living in southern Florida, which is far from Rogersville, so I might not be able to attend many of the future reunions.
Can you tell me if the Livesays are connected to any Revolutionary War patriots?  One of my Livesay aunts (Peggy Livesay Bocock) had joined the
DAR, so we have that connection somewhere.  Aunt Peggy has died, so I can't contact her about this.  I would like to join the DAR here in Marco
Island, Florida, since I am so far removed from family.
Thank you.

Comments -Very interested in learning about my father's side of the family (Livesay). My grandfather was John E. Livesay (1928-2007), great
grandfather was William T. Livesay (1896-1955), great grandfatherx2 was Jesse Bartley Livesay (1865-1928), and great gfx3 was Jessie (sp?) Livesay
(1818-1870). This is where I am stumped because I might be missing a generation. His father may have been Carter Livesay (1787-1855) though not
sure. Any leads would be appreciated!

was Melissa Renee and my Birth-mothers last name was Livesey (no birth father information). I am half black  half white with green eyes.  I was
adopted into an amazing family and we moved to San Diego, California USA when I was 4 and have been here ever since. I've always wanted to
search for my Birth-mother and look into my family history and my two children  (daughter 15 and son age 19) more recently are encouraging me
and are equally interested to learn about it as well.

Comments - From the Trinity Lutheran Church (TLC) in Lancaster, Lancaster Co, PA, I found a baptismal record for my 4th great grandmother,
Elizabeth Nagel, who was married to Johannes Nagel. Elizabeth was an adult when baptized. Her baptismal record reads: "Mrs Elizabeth Nagel -
Born 11 Mar 1778, bapt: 11 Mar 1799; Parents: John & Rachel Johnson; Spon: None."
Johannes Nagle and Elizabeth Johnson's marriage date from TLC records was 8 April 1798. They had 5 children baptized at TLC.
Researching Ancestry.com, I found Quaker records in the Philadelphia area for a John Johnson and Rachel Livezey (6-41) on page 76 in The
Livezey Family book by Charles Harper Smith.
In my research, I've found that Quakers do not practice the sacrament of baptism, so Elizabeth's adult baptism makes sense.
Looking at John and Rachel's family, as reported on page 76 of the Livezey book, an "Elizabeth" is not included. However, there is sufficient time
between Samuel’s birth and Mary’s birth, for Elizabeth to have been conceived and born.
Therefore, I believe Elizabeth (nee Johnson) Nagle is the daughter of the Quaker couple John and Rachel (nee Livezey) Johnson.
Have there been any updates to the Livezey book that includes, or excludes, the possibility that my Elizabeth Johnson is the daughter of John and
Rachel (Livezey) Johnson?
Thanks,
Ray Nagle

Comments - I am researching my Livesay family and am wondering if you have any information on Homer
Livesay, son of Milium Frances "Bruce" Livesay, son of Milium Davis Livesay, son of Thomas Testerman
Livesay. Homer was my great grandfather, however, he was either never married to my great grandmother,
Sydnah Kate Bowers, or wasn't married very long. I'm trying to go through all the scrapbooks in hope of
some mention of him or Milium, but I thought perhaps you could point me in the right direction. I greatly
appreciate any help! I'm attaching a photo we found in my great grandmother's photos of Homer Jack.

Warmly,

Comments -  Hello,

I love digging around the Livesay Historical Society website. I was wondering if some more information could be provided about the March 2003
visit to the College of Arms noted on the Coat of Arms page.

It says the Coat of Arms registered with the College goes back to 1577 and doesn't mention the origin. Who was this one registered to?

In 1613, the Livesey Family of Hacking Hall Lancashire registered their arms. Is it known to whom these arms belonged?

In particular, I find it extraordinarily interesting to learn that Robarte Lyvely was using the same arms, traced back to a community no longer in
existence. What community was this? Where was it located?

Best wishes,
Blake son of Gary (150.217.321), son of Carroll (150.217.32), son of Earl (150.217.3), son of William (150.217), son of Stokley (150.21), son of James
(150.2), son of Joseph (150), son of George, son of Thomas (A1), son of Thomas

I have traced my husband to Thomas Livesay that you have as A1. It would not allow me to leave a message on the guest page. It says I’m trying
to leave a blank message. I thought you might want to know.  I’m also hoping that maybe someone can help me. I am looking for the exact date of
the death of this Thomas’s father, Thomas Llivesay, born 4/22/1700 and died 5/1751. I’d love to have the exact date and I’d love to find his grave.
We travel to England to visit family and I’d love to be able to visit it. Any help would be appreciated.

estranged from her paternal grandparents but through Ancestry.com we've been able to trace the Livesay name back to England and Thomas
Livesay born in Lancashire, England on 03 Feb 1730.

My wife and I are traveling to the UK this summer and were wondering if there are any landmarks connected to the Livesay family that we could
include on our trip.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If we can assist the Livesay Historical Society in any way we would be more than happy to help.

Thank you.

Dear Annette

I'm Richard Allen Tiffany (1947 - Not Quite Yet) of Orlando, FL.

Johanna Livesay and I talk quite frequently.......at least when she's not traveling the Globe. Johanna gave me the Livesay information (Thomas
Livesay Lineage Page & Livesay Historical Society).....at least the website information quite some time ago, but I had already gotten "pretty far
back" on my own at the time and didn't concentrate on the info she gave me at the time. I was still (and am) working on two Tiffany family
mysteries for the most part and ended up hiring a professional Genealogist who "acquired nothing" beyond what I already had found. A real
shame.

I've been into my genealogy (4 main surnames) since the 1980's when my Great Uncle George Oliver Tiffany passed away and "passed the torch"
onto me. Of course, since then.....we've seen the advent of the computer and genealogical websites flourish. Makes "most things" so much easier. I
spent most of my years concentrating on my Father's side of the family (Tiffany & Mayer), but in recent years finally got into my Mother's side
(Shanks & Livesay). It's the Livesay Line (various spellings) in which I've managed to go the furthest "back in time" (most interesting too)....with
the help of Johanna and your Society. Thank you so much for the years of time and effort you and your members have devoted to this passionate
task.

Anyway the first Livesay that "I hail from" is my Mother's Mother Lulu Mae Livesay-Shanks, born 30 June 1881 in Richfield, Adams Co., IL. She
died 8 Dec 1947 (the year I was born) in Fowler, Otero Co., CO. Her father (my Great Grandfather) was Elbert Liman Trumble Livesay, aka/
Albert Lyman Trumble Livesay, born 7 Feb 1845 in Ridgeview, Washington Co., IL and died 11 Sept 1926 in Rocky Ford, Otero Co., CO.

I've not yet gotten to the question I'm posing to you yet, in hopes of an answer....but I believe when Johanna first contacted me "out of the blue,"
she said we were 4th cousins (I believe) and both descend from my 4th Great Grandfather Thomas Livesay, born 3 Feb 1730 in Pleasington,
Lancashire, England and died 6 Oct 1797 in Franklin Co., VA. He was married to Margaret Stones (1731-1780). His father was Thomas Livesay, Sr.
(1700-1751) and his spouse was Alice Hugh Marsden (1705-1734). [ please correct me if I'm wrong on any point ].

Anyway, my interest at the moment is on some additional "basic vital stats" on my 10th Great Grandfather Livesay. This is ALL I have on him at
the moment.....Sir Thomas Livesay, born 1527 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, died 1597 (same location). Don't have day or month of
birth/death. He was supposedly married Alice Brears (1534-1623) in 1566. They had a child, Sir John Ralph (156?-1636). And from the info I have
on his parents...my 11th Great Grandfather would be either John Thomas Livesay or Gyles Egidius Livesay (1487-1565) married to Alice Talbot
(1488-?).

I am assuming you too are related (in some way) to the Livesay's I have just mentioned, but right now, I'm just trying to get some more basic facts
(accurate dates/places/spouse/children) on my 10th GG, and the actual name of his father too. I could spend hours navigating the Livesay Society
Website in hopes of getting lucky, but this "retiree" is also passionate about "coin collecting," fishing, grandkids and spending time with a few
Vietnam Veterans friends (here in Central FL) that I served time with in the Vietnam War. I've wanted to go back to work part time, but just don't
have the time.

But, if you find (easily) that my 10th (and 11th) Great Grandfathers are "in your line," I'd surely appreciate a reply and any information (easily
obtained). Please don't go to any great lengths. Even if you can just "point me in the right direction" on your website, if they are there, that would
be great.

Thanks for much for listening (reading all this). I know it's a whopper of an email.

Best Regards from a FL cousin? Richard Allen Tiffany
p.s. - Pre Civil War, most of my direct ancestors seem to hail from NY, MA and States just West of there; then Post Civil War...most of my
"modern" direct ancestors (both sides) seem to have called Colorado home.

Just in case. Phone: (407) 312-7227.....and should I not answer, please leave a voice mail. I don't have my "smart phone" glued to my ear or in my
pocket all the time like "today's youngsters."

I have been research the McCombs family and I possibly have a connection with the Livesay family, but I am not sure if it is correct.

My 3rd great grandfather was James G McCombs who possibly married Margaret Livesay b Oct 1827, father possibly William Herbert
Livesay b 1798, mother Nancy Walton
William’s father, Thomas Livesay Jr.

I was wondering if you could help me figure if this is correct. If it is, I would like to get some more information on the ancestral line.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dear Ms. Annette (Coppa) Livesay,

My mother’s paternal Aunt, Minnie O’Connell from Greenbrier County, White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia  married Fred Livesay in her early 60’s.
When my mother passed away I found some photo albums that my Mom had told me were from the Livesay family or Fred’s mother’s family.  There

I’ve copied details from Ancestry. com on Fred and his mother for your reference.

Livesey And My Y-DNA Testing

Hello,

I am Glenn Livesey from Inverloch, Victoria Australia.

A while ago I was an honorary member of the LHS. I had been in contact with Virginia Smith regarding the research in to the Livesey families, and
received the Livesay Bulletin when it was in the printed format.

Over the past few years I have lost contact with the society but have continued research in to my branch of the Livesey’s. I am a descendant of John
Livesey 1710-1768, the second son of John Livesey 1677-1729 of Fenniscowles Hall. He is my 6th Great Grandfather. My parents moved to Australia
from Blackburn in 1950.

In recent times I have become interested in DNA Genealogy. I thought I would share with you what I have found so far with regards to the testing of
my Y chromosome DNA. The Y chromosome is passed from father to son and so can be used to trace the direct paternal line. (This is not the ethnicity
test which is popular through Ancestry).

Firstly I would like to say that I have a Y DNA match to a man who can trace his descent from George Livesay 1765-1837, a son of Thomas Livesay
A1. Our common ancestor is John Livesey 1677-1729, making us 8th cousins twice removed. Therefore I have a proven Y-DNA relationship to
the USA Livesay A1 line and the Pleasington family. I do have a second Y-DNA match whose surname is Livesay, but unfortunately has not replied
to my emails. But as his surname is Livesay not Livesey, I tend to think he is from the USA.

Y-DNA testing provides you with matches to men with links prior to the adoption of surnames. It can also give you your possible ancient origins,
although this is new research and the accuracy of possible histories varies. I can say that I can identify with 2 other British surname lines.
Hoskinson from Preston and Newton from the Manchester area. I don’t want to get in to the technical side of things, but due to our genetic distance,
the link to these families is prior to the adoption of surnames, probably prior to the arrival of the Normans in 1066. I know there has been
speculation in the past that the Livesey’s arrived with the Normans, but at this point in time the Y-DNA results do not support this. In fact the
results indicate that it is more likely that our paternal line arrived in the Roman period. This is because we are part of a branch that is strongly
based in central to northern Italy. Our branch has no matches in France (so far ), but we do in Italy and Spain.

I hope you find this interesting. If you wish to know more I am always more that happy to share.

Kind regards,

Glenn Livesey.

PS. I am the administrator of a Y-DNA Project. Here is the link, but the project covers a much larger area of the Y-DNA tree than just our line.

https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/r-z5-6and-subclades/about/background We are on the S47>Z44 branch.

Hi Annette,

Virginia Smith has also emailed me and I have replied.

In my email I tried to explain Y-DNA research but I may have been too technical.

Below is a copy of my email to Virginia.

Hello Virginia,

It’s good to be in contact with you again and that you and Johanna are interested in my DNA research.

I started the DNA research around 2016. Firstly, I did the Ancestry.com DNA test which is very popular. This test is what they call an autosomal
DNA test and is good for matching people who could be up to 8th cousins, male or female. It also gives an ethnicity result which is only an
approximation and not very useful to a genealogist. With this test I have made contact with some cousins on the Livesey side of my family. One of
whom lives in the Yukon, a son of Rebecca Livesey a sister of my grandfather Peter Livesey.

I knew about the possibility of having the Y-DNA test. I will try to explain this test, hopefully . Each person has 46 chromosomes, getting 23 from
each parent. 22 are called autosomal chromosomes for a total 0f 44 (the above test). The other 1 from each parent are the sex chromosomes (2 total).
You always get an x from your mother, but from the father you get either a x or a y. If you get a y it is a male. This y chromosome is passed nearly
identical from father to son. Therefore, you can build a direct paternal tree based on the slight differences of the DNA of the y chromosome passed on
from father to son. You probably have seen an image of DNA that looks like a twisted ladder. If you flatten it out it looks like a ladder. The rungs of
the ladder are proteins of which there are 4. On the y chromosome there are about 57 million rungs. It is the odd difference or mutations at rungs
which show if males share a common male ancestor and possibly how close. The results of this test have surprised me somewhat. You can have
different tests done on the Y-DNA, depending on how interested you are, how deep you want to research or how deep are your pockets. As far as I
know I am the only Livesey/Livesay to have the complete Y-DNA testing done, what they call the Big Y-700 (at FTDNA). I have matched to many
men with different surnames, 2 of which are Livesay’s but have not done the Big Y-700 but a more basic test. One of these men is Dana Burgess who
was adopted and was looking for his paternal line. I don’t know his full story as it is personal information, but what he did tell me was his
grandfather who he believed was his maternal grandmother was a Livesay. He is my closest Y-DNA match and so is a Livesay. Therefore, it was his
paternal grandfather. I believe this has shocked him a little which is understandable. He could trace his Livesay line back to Thomas Livesay A1.
This gave me a DNA link back to the Pleasington Livesey’s our common ancestor being John 1677-1729. I do have another match who is an
A Livesay. He has not replied to any of my emails. But given that his name is Livesay not Livesey I believe he must be a USA Livesay.

The other men with different surnames share an ancestor with us before the adoption of surnames around 1300. The results indicate a branch off
probably prior to 1000AD. The Livesey branch is the first or oldest branch on our “English” Y-DNA tree. There appears to be 2 surnames that are
later branches, Hoskinson or Hoskins from Preston and a Newton family from the Manchester area. So a close geographical relationship.

The next branch higher up and earlier is an Italian family di Franza. The next earlier branch is found in Spain and there are 2 different lines there.

This is something that would be far more, easier to explain sitting in the same room.

What does this all mean? I must stress that it is still early days. Y-DNA research has the potential to take us back to our ancient origins. I
administrate the R-Z56 Y-DNA Project. R-Z56 is the name of a mutation on a rung on the Y-DNA ladder. It is shared by hundreds of men who
descend from a man who first had the little change in his Y chromosome, and lived around 2000BC. Today R-Z56 is found in its most numbers in
north west Italy and in lower numbers throughout western Europe. Generally west of the Rhine. It is a branch of the mutation R-U152 which was
possibly born north of the alps in Switzerland 3000BC. Our particular branch which includes our English families as well as our Italian and Spanish
cousins is known as R-Z44, born sometime between 1000-500BC. At the moment my personal opinion is that the family was living at this time in
central Italy.

We have almost ruled out our family arriving in England during the Saxon period 500-1066AD. Our Y-DNA is not found in those countries today. At
the moment it is not found in France either, which makes a Norman origin before England doubtful. If it is one day found in France then that might
change. But in my opinion, the likelihood of Roman origins is the strongest. Even if we came with the Normans, all roads point to Rome.

I am very happy to have a chat with Johanna, yourself or anyone if interested. I can make the call which would be no problem. I have a good deal
where it will cost me 1 cent per minute to the US.   Just let me know what is preferred.

Good afternoon, Annette!

I want to introduce myself.  I was on the LHS website and saw that you live in Kernersville.  I live in Mount Airy, and used to drive through K-Vegas
every day on my way to and from work in Greensboro.  I worked for American Express for over 20 years; the first half in CA & AZ.

I don’t know if you have any information about our spelling of Lievsay.  I understand it was spelled Livesay until 1880 when it first appeared as
Lievsay in the Stone (or Izard) County, AR census.  Apparently these ancestors did not know how to spell Livesay, and it was recorded as Lievsay by
the census taker.  I have more information if you are interested.

I wanted to offer any services I can provide to you for the benefit of the Society.  During my tenure at American Express, I was a manager in
Corporate Communications, and I have a business degree as well as a digital design and visual communication degree.  I have worked in Marketing
as well.  I currently teach High School Fine Arts.  If ever I can lend a graphic hand, please don’t hesitate to ask.  I’m always glad to help when I have
margin in my life.

Thank you for all you do!  God bless you!

Excited to find your brilliant website. Hopefully I will eventually be able to find a link with our Livesey family.

My husband’s grandmother was Jane Bennett Livesey born 31st August 1887 at Wicken House, Houghton. Her father was Thomas Bennett Livesey of

We have found a St Chads history that mentions the Livesey family living on the same land for 350 years.

Hoping you can help me with a connection.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope that you can help me.  I have a website (www.gssr.es) about the railway that was built by the British in Spain about 1885 - 1894, The Great
Southern of Spain Railway Company Ltd.  One of the main architects was James Livesey and we have a number of documents from him but precious
little.

I have found a website regarding his autobiography online but it is frustratingly unfinished (the website, not the autobiography) and I was hoping to
get into contact with one of the Livesey family, especially Micahel Byrne who was involved with digitizing the autobiography.

Would you have any contact details of people who would have access to this autobiography, as it would be very useful to many researchers of James?

Many thanks in anticipation,

Yours faithfully,

Please let me know as soon as dates are set for 2021,  so that we may arrange for transportation and our accommodations.
Our tie to the Livesay family is through the George Livesay line.  My maternal great grandmother was Ida May Livesay Hysinger.  Her father was
Enoch Livesay.
I have cc'd mother as well.

Thank you!

Comments: I made a mistake on the lineage.
Ida May Livesay was born out of wedlock to Celia Livesay. Enoch is in our heritage but was not Celia's father.

Celia Livesay's father was James Wilbourne LIVESAY 1824 Hawkins Co. (Now Hancock Co.) Tennessee 1824- 1899 Rockcastle Co. Ky.
Celia's grandfather was Enoch Livesay.  1804-1880.
Celia's great grandfather was George Livesay 1760-1837.
Great great grandfather-Thomas Livesay1729-1797.

Thanks!

Cynthia F
